KTM 390 Duke India Price Is INR 1.8 lakhs!!

The KTM 390 Duke has just been launched in the fast expanding Indian bike market and we are reporting LIVE from the event. Official word on the prices has come out and the bike has been launched at an introductory price of INR 1.8 lakhs (ex showroom, Pune)!!

Such a mouth watering price tag is courtesy the high amount of content sharing between the 200 and the 390 Duke.

Components sharing between the 390 and the 200 Duke .

  •    KTM R&D Manager (Street) Sebastian Sekira earlier informed us that the KTM 200 Duke’s chassis is sufficiently capable of handling more loads. So, there is no surprise that the boffins at KTM simply took the 200’s chassis, made minor alterations, and used it for the bigger 390 Duke.
  •    Both the KTM 200 and the 390 Duke also use the same trellis frame.Talking about the suspension, both the bikes have 43mm upside down forks at front and a direct mount monoshock at rear. The bikes, however, do have different suspension settings.
  •    The 390’s engine is largely based on that of the 200cc variant and both the bikes share the crankcase and the gearbox. The 390 does get different gear ratios.

What we mean to say from all this is that the Austrian bike maker hasn’t invested a really big sum to make the leap from 200 Duke to 390 Duke.

The much awaited 375cc variant of the KTM Duke is looking all set to kickstart a totally new segment of the 250-400cc performance bike market in India.

The bike has a zero-100kmph timing of around 5-6 secs and has a top whack of close to 160kmph. The KTM 390 Duke is also capable of hitting 130kmph in scant 10-11 secs.

The 375cc single cylinder motor of the 390 Duke has a max power output of 44bhp and has a peak torque figure of 35Nm. The engine comes mated to a 6 speed manual transmission. The 390 Duke’s 375cc engine benefits from forged piston and a chrome plated cylinder.

Our counterparts in the West have already told us that the bike has a great handling package, which along with a powerful engine, makes the bike quite a pocket rocket.
Visually, the KTM 390 Duke is almost identical to the 125cc and 200cc variants. The only changes are usage of KTM Orange paint for the trellis frame and alloy wheels. The bike also gets different decals.
